Tripping

I walk to where he's sitting
It's all salty salty
He knows It's good, it's real, it's pretty
It's all salty Timmy
It's all salty Timmy
It's all salty Timmy

He said Doe Doe Doe

Dared leave
We've burned the field completely
Ahhh... last light
I feel it's real, it's pretty
It's all salty Timmy
It's all salty Timmy
It's all salty Timmy

He said Doe Doe Doe

PostSubject: The Breeders - Metal Man    Sat Dec 21, 2013 2:02 pm

Lyrics
I don't know how old I was
But it was a '65 pickup
I was lying on the ground
With flat iron bars over my head

One silver drop is all you need
To put a hole in your head at 2000 degrees
That's right man, you be the Metal Man
At 2000 degrees

That's hot *2

And over my head the hot wire was sparking
I got something down on my chest
And it began to bubble

I was her parent, my three in a tree
When a drip dropped down on me
That's right man, I'm the Metal Man
At 2000 degrees

That's hot

PostSubject: The Breeders - Iris   Sat Dec 21, 2013 2:15 pm

Lyrics
Four hours in the pot, one hour out
Four hours in the pot, one hour out
It grows and I sleep standing up
It grows and i sleep standing up
When Iris sleeps over
When iris sleeps over
What a book she'll write
What a book she'll write
Oh last night
Oh last night
Oh come on, nobody wants that
Oh come on, nobody wants that
Sister, sister, Oh...
Sister, sister, oh...
We tried hour by hour
We tried hour by hour
Hour by hour *2
Hour by hour

Hour by hour
Four hours to daylight, four hours and then

Pour water on me til I live again
Four hours to daylight, four hours and then
When Iris sleeps over
Pour water on me til i live again
It'll be alright
When iris sleeps over
All last night
It'll be alright
But come on, nobody wants that
All last night
Sister, sister, oh...
But come on, nobody wants that
We tried hour by hour
Sister, sister, oh...
Hour by hour *2
We tried hour by hour
Hour by hour
Hour by hour

PostSubject: Metal Box In Dub - Understand Dub. Jah Wobble & Keith Levene    Fri May 09, 2014 12:48 am

Imagine if they could've controlled their temperments, egoes, and drug use.Public Image, with Metal Boxes line-up,holding it together putting 20 years out worth of music in this vein.

Certainly haven't lost it.But I only appreciated elements of Public Image Limited, without Levene Wobble combination say from Flowers Of Romance.

The LP/CD/Cassette Album release was way over produced, awful looking back, but gave Lydon some catchy tunes,Rise and FFF good examples. But loved it as a 16 year old, when it came out.

But this is great form from Metal box In Dub.The Orirginal Second Issue/Metal Box released in 1979 as Public Image Limited second issue has been in my top ten albums since 14 years old
and still to this day

PostSubject: Blondie 1975 Lullaby CBGBs    Sat May 10, 2014 5:59 am

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blondie_(band)

Wikipedia wrote:
The band's first commercial success occurred in Australia in 1977, when the music television program Countdown mistakenly played their video "In the Flesh", which was the B-side of their then current single "X-Offender".[10] Jimmy Destri later credited the show's Molly Meldrum for their initial success, commenting that "we still thank him to this day" for playing the wrong song.[21] In a 1998 interview, drummer Clem Burke recalled seeing the episode in which the wrong song was played, but he and Chris Stein suggested that it may have been a deliberate subterfuge on the part of Meldrum. Stein asserted that "X-Offender" was "too crazy and aggressive [to become a hit]", while "In the Flesh" was "not representative of any punk sensibility. Over the years, I've thought they probably played both things but liked one better. That's all." In retrospect, Burke described "In the Flesh" as "a forerunner to the power ballad".[22]

The single reached number 2 in Australia, while the album reached the Australian top twenty in October 1977, and a subsequent double-A release of "X-Offender" and "Rip Her to Shreds" was also popular. A successful Australian tour followed in December, though it was marred by an incident in Brisbane when disappointed fans almost rioted after Harry cancelled a performance due to illness

Find it hilarious that they played the wrong song, but it doesn't ring true.Australian censors at that time, would've been very stringent on sexual content, where In The Flesh, despite the title, was a more palatable
love ballad.

Not to mention, alot of Australians, went wild about Debbie, yes,
particularly the men,she was even my favourite love,a desire, not that whimsical existential moodly love affair, set upon a black and white noir background, that I have for Kate Bush,Debbie is all fun and rock and roll. But Aussies only know of the Radio favourites.

I love the bands rough cut beginnings, like the best of New Yorks punk, they did a stint in CBGBs,but thanks to Patti Smiths elitism, got them booted out,to greater commercial success, than Patti ever did,but alas a bigger budget to near destroy themselves on drugs.

But I love the girl anyway, forever jealous of Chris Stein. And Debbie was way nicer than Patti Smith.I don't care if she did Horses with John Cale and a brilliant live album with Cale in 1976,The Ocean Club New York.I just don't like others pushing their authority, manipulating others against the under-dogs,making the atmosphere more intolerant and hard to grow artistically as a group.

And yeah,I'd rather slam Debbie against the wall of the CBGBs toilets than talk politics with Patti...actually,I'd go down on her, despite the state of the floor. She's worth it.  boobies

Rare and raw footage of Blondie, the original line-up.This night is significant, when Debbie forgot the lyrics in a "Girl Should know better" and Patti Smith declared them a junk band, not fit for the cultural flow of CBGBs and affectively got them booted across town.It was more to do with Debbies sexual antics that Patti grew tired of.I liked Debbie as a person better than Miss Smith, but it seems only one woman could wear a black tie.I'd rather see Debbie dressed as a school girl showing off her waist, than some decrepid house spider with a black tie, screeching "Rock'n'Roll nigger".No matter who was more artistic viable. That's payback Patti.

PostSubject: John Cale Patti Smith -Waiting For The Man live at Ocean Club '76 NY    Sat May 10, 2014 6:25 am

Speaking of that song done by John Cale and Patti Smith, live 1976 at the Ocean Club new York.It was quite a line-up that night with David Byrne, Lou Reed, Chris Spedding, Allen Lanier & Mick Ronson.

But for all my ill feeling toward Patti,I love her here, over dramatizing, improvising absolutely copulating with the song.Cale at his murderous madness welsh looney best from 4:36 on...I worship him, spit flying from his mouth, slapping the ivory in feverish thrusts, trying to strangle the piano.A God.

PostSubject: Tom Verlaine • Breakin' In My Heart    Sat May 17, 2014 4:02 am

TOM VERLAINE
Breakin' In My Heart
(Verlaine)

Thunder ...
Thunder and lightning
One drop of rain on the back of my hand
How I ... ooh I
How I love to wander
Someone came in the middle of the night
Threw me in a room without walls.
Yes, I love to wander
A cold wind slapped my face
And another time to shut down
Well, my arms they felt so weak and strong
Under your window, well it shone like a light
Tonight the air has teeth
I wish I had another way to breathe
And all you, you ever say
All you ever say
All you ever say, is ..
Stop Breakin' in my heart.
And so it came to pass
That is, once upon a time
I saw the color that sent the geese south
I saw the color, your golden mouth
I saw the color that whistles far away
I saw the color; I walked away
Deep in your dark eyes
Deep where the daylight searches
I keep waitin' and waitin'
About a moment of gold
Breakin' in my

and now the original Television version, never recorded in the studio, like so many of their best tracks, only in live or demo form.

I always loved the New York ways of doing things.

You got trouble on yr mind
You got it double, thats why you shine
You got trouble all the time
You got it double thats why you shine
Don't call it hell, call it soul, don't call it hell, no
YEAH, yeah, yr mouth
Underline morality
And if how come i'm so dumb, you wanna spend all yr time w/me?
Soul? Hell? soul. no.

PostSubject: Television – Little Johnny Jewel    Sun Jun 15, 2014 7:08 pm

I got to apologise. This song should actually open the thread.

Cool Songs....and you don't get cooler than Television.

Little Johnny Jewel, song's been going through my head constantly for three weeks, has'nt driven me mad, like others do,might actually enjoy the neurosis for once, the radio dial of the mind usually sticks on shit, you can't stand from the radio, telvision or rail station loud speaker.

Three weeks ago,I bought the best pot this year, got stoned and dug for different versions of this song, but love the original ORK single best.

I remember Richard Hell saying they write little psychotic tunes that mirror a psychotic world. That little lead from 1:03 to 1:34,nothing quite compares to that edgey cool....so much, made a little excerpt of the song from 0.00 to 1:34 playing on a loop, still not grown tired of it.Possible top ten song of all time.

Now part of my romance playlist....

(Verlaine)
Now Little Johnny Jewel,
Oh, he's so cool,
He has no decision,
He's just trying to tell a vision.
Some thought that this was sad,
And others thought it mad,
They just scratching the surface,
JJ can do the floor kiss.
Was he on display?
No, no, not today.
All that guy ever said,
He said, "I want my little wing-head".
He half-asleep at night
Over his head, sensation of flight.
And he wake up dreaming,
Dreaming...
And he run down to the airport,
The rush, the roar,
And he crouched down behind a fence,
With a chest full of lights,
Then,
He loses his senses...
Oh Little Johnny Jewel,
He's so cool,
But if you see him looking lost
You ain't gotta come on so boss!
And you know that he's paid,
You know that he's paid the price,
All you gotta do for that guy
Is wink your eye.

Here's Televisions "R&R Animal" version of Johnny Jewel.Knock your socks off...

PostSubject: Jumpin' Jack Flash (The Rolling Stones - Introduced by John Lennon in sign language!   Mon Jun 30, 2014 10:12 pm

Could'nt believe Mick Jagger kept this under wraps for 25 years, not being released that is.

Due to him not being satisfied with the Stones performance.Further nudging Brian Jones out of the limelight and contribution

to the band.Best years were with Brian. He may upset a lot the band and frienships in general, but he was the original leader,

christen the bands name, chose many the style of the earlier Stones material.Drugs destroyed his personality and the others

did little to alleviate that, excacerbating the deterioration, even conspiring against him I theorise.Pallenburg runs off with Richards

their new manager takes over many of Brians roles.Alot of pressure and jealousies. He was the best looking and most talented

of the Rolling Stones, exceptional. Why Mick kept this hidden ?,Brian on a bad day was still equal to the rest of the band.

Since it was his last live performance on camera with the Stones,it's posted. The band look great, especially Micks sneering

lyrical delivery.Shame on him thinking this...I for one, favour this video and performance of Jumping Jack Flash above all

others.

PostSubject: No expectations - The Rolling Stones - Rock And Roll Circus   Mon Jun 30, 2014 10:13 pm

Another track from the same performance and another favourite of the Stones.

Although have had an extensive catalougue of Stones material, they just lost that edge after Exile On Main Street.

Between 1977 and 1979,mediocre at best, then one exceptional album,Tattoo You,haha, remember buying that the second day it

was released, still got it,tatty and worn,Just Waiting On a Friend, great lyrics, but Start Me Up was the catchy single, wearing sweat

pants and all that early 80's rage of working out, culminating in that Olivia Newton John song,Physical later in the decade.

I laughed it off,Mick Jagger

no longer set trends,he was following them, same with Lou Reed later in 1986,with his Rap/Rock album,Mistrial,God Awful examples from

these two very influential persons in my life. The Eighties, hollow and tinsel town for the masses, but had an exceptional underground

scene that very few witnessed let alone...bought their albums. It's the time I shifted from the Stones and onto Roxy Music,Brian Eno

The Fall and most of the punk followed.Leading to the Velvets in 86-87,everything changed....finally Understood. What it was all about.

Been having a trip down memory lane it was Brian Jones that came to the fore-front and the original participant to form the 27 Club

and all the conspiratorial murders....eh-hum,death by misadventures that followed to qualify for it.

Winehouse was the last to make it....who they'll choose next ? Has to be someone cool and rebellious...I reject Spears for that, can't be American

keep the satanic rituals English please. :cthulhu:

PostSubject: The Chrome Cranks - Little Johnny Jewel (Television cover)    Tue Jul 01, 2014 5:35 am

Memory Lane....Old fag Dave and his MDMA suppositories, died at 30,HIV.

He had the worst taste in music, always sending me invites to these "House Parties" with his elite bum-boys in Sydney,I never went.Bored of superficiality. But he did have some bizarre punk and No_wave stuff, like Lydia Lunch,Nina Hagen and this strange little Foetus guy, think he sang Verklemmt.

So,out of nostalgia,I checked some of them out and found this ripper cover of a Television classic,Little Johnny Jewel. It's almost a grotty scum-rock version...I like it.Enjoy The Chrome Cranks with Foetus.

Come to think of it,no,I'm not ashamed to be attracted to her.

Spose I should admit it,I like my girls dark and serpentine...

This is how music used to be,gorgeous, chic, cool, nothing like this has sounded so good since The Velvet Underground.I can't thank enough for revival artist like Anton Newcombes connection to The Brian Jonestown Massacre and the lovely Tess Parks, that husky voice, kind of like Lisa Germano, mixed with the southern twang Mrs Hope Sandaval has. These two are so complimentary together, hope no artistic split happens between the two, ensuring many more collaborations.I'm ashamed to admit, extremely attracted to Tess Parks, but I do her justice, advertising her music at Webanarchy Forums in the Cool Songs thread, under the monicker,Billy Ruben. No,not the gay porn star, comes from Silence Of The Lambs, enjoy.
