Brian Eno once said,The Velvet Underground may have only originally sold about 100 albums, but it spawned 100 bands. When the VU toured Cleveland,66,you had an explosion of DIY bands pop up,unfortunately, not many recording made, not even demos. Thanks to SnotAngle,I discovered the Mirrors lastnight, this was the song that got me going,Annie, sounds like the Velvets legendary lost tapes, love this style, coolest tunes,to enjoy as life too.The sort of memories you hold ontpo when you die, love that feeling,of discovering the next best band, sound or characters, enjoy,my great respects to SnotAngle as well!

....Yeah,I finally fell in love with Pere Ubu,avoided it all my life,my junkie auntie put me onto them. She and Rick always discussed music and scoffed at my Sex Pistols and early Roxy Music with Brian Eno when I was 14.I got busted, buying a cube of hash and drinking beer at the local with the rehab guys and girls,$20,the best cube I never smoked...and the dog told my mother.I was going to get stoned and fuck the ex-prostitutes at the rehab, finding out I was Ricks nephew,he screwed up,what was supposed to be my best or anyone elses deflowering, screwed by two late 20's of a professional veteran status.
I still hate you both to this day,Anika and Richard Burke....yes I do and thats the reason I barred PERE UBU...

Subject: Pere Ubu - Waiting For Mary Sun Feb 24, 2013 9:37 pm
Welcome to Mars! It's open all hours. What are we doing here?" Bill's in the back and Fred's on the phone, sayin, "What are we doing here?"
Oh, he was sayin that you are never alone in the Twilight Zone. "What are we doing here?"
Waiting. For. Mary Oh. I oughta know but my memory is goin'. I'm down on my knees. I'm beggin you please. Don't mind the stares we've paid for these chairs. And keep up that smile, it might be awhile.
"What are we doing here?"
Waiting. For. Mary Oh. Oh, I. Won... der. Why. She can't. Be. On time. Ever?
What do you know, it had to be snowin! I'm down on my knees. I'm beggin you please. Oh, what do you see? Why, it had to be me, sayin, What? What are we doing here? Now, one at a time or all in a line, say it:

Maybe you see further than I can see, or maybe things just look differently Maybe I'm nothing but a shadow on the wall Maybe love's a tomb where you dance at night Maybe sanctuary is an electric light I get so tired it's like I'm another man, and everything I see seems so underhanded I don't see anything that I want, and I don't see anything that I want
Image, object and illusion go down to the corner
where none of the faces fit a human form, where nothing I see there isn't deformed, where in a secret lab works a Doctor Moreau, and no private eye's gotta tell me it's a long goodbye I get so tired it's like I'm another man, and everything I see seems so underhanded I don't see anything that I want, and I don't see anything that I want
Looking into the heart of darkness

He'll be the red guard She'll be the new world He'll wear his grey cap And she'll wave her red book He'll tell her One way? I want you all ways One way And then they'll sing I was lost at sea She was lost with me Then across the broad horizon Out on the Big Waves I saw it coming I saw the red guard I saw the new world I saw the Big Wall Out on the Big Waves Hooray! (That's what I had to say) Hooray! We will purify We must purify For the sake of that security we all want We will purify
He'll be the red guard She'll be the new world He'll wear his grey cap She'll wave her red book
No idea how I feel so cheated by my own snobbery and attitude, barring Pere Ubu all these years, totally in love with them.
At least for me,there's always something new or an aspect to catch up on.Never again, shall snobbery blind me again...well,at least with tunes.

...THIS is the album that got me into them...Not to cool on things after Dub Housing, except for the various live albums, like 390' Terminal Tower and hopefully some decent early 70's bootlegs when I get my hands on them,courteousy..of RedEye or Phantom records....still got to buy that signed Lou Reed album for $400 yet.
So yeah...Heart Of Darkness was the very first song i heard of theirs from various punk collections, back in 84...but I was'nt mature, arty or receptive enough,to be that advanced of the curve back then.
Rocket From The Tombs,The Day The Earth met,may have snuck into the top favoured five albums of all time, according to me,pushing Public Image Limiteds Metal Box out,I'm sure Lydon would agree at least it was something decent to knock him off the podium so to speak...

Get ready for one of the best songs ever recorded. In my search for discovering Rocket From The Tombs influences,I noticed they covered Mirrors "Frustration" and the "Hands In MY Pocket" version, has the opening bars of 30 Seconds Over Tokyo at the introduction, thinking they scored well from the Mirrors,The Rockets, getting Chris,Frustration and the opening rift for Laughner to steal.
Then I noticed this shit-hot looking band, simply saucer, which rekindled my love for Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground.
All I can say,for Simply Saucer....taste it,you'll love it.Like I said, something new eack week, but totally in love with these guys.

Simply Saucer was a Canadian rock band, active in the 1970s. Based in Hamilton, Ontario, the band consisted of guitarist and vocalist Edgar Breau, keyboardist John LaPlante (billed by the stage name Ping Romany), bass guitarist Kevin Christoff and drummer Neil DeMarchant. The band's style has been described as a hybrid of proto-punk and psychedelia and they form a "Rust-belt punk" style, along with The Stooges, MC5 and Alice Cooper. The group's references also included German progressive rock, or Kraut Rock, early electronic music pioneers e.g.Karlheinz Stockhausen Formed in 1973, the band was originally a six -piece, largely improvisational, outfit featuring Dave Byers and Paul Collili.[1] [2] By October 1973, the band contracted into a four-piece. In its lifetime, the band only released one 7" single, "She's a Dog/I Can Change My Mind" in 1978 on fanzine magnate Gary Pig Gold's Pig Label, before breaking up in July 1979. However, an abortive recording session with producers Daniel Lanois and Bob Lanois from 1974 and a June 28, 1975 concert performance on the roof of Jackson Square were later compiled for the 1989 album Cyborgs Revisited. Cyborgs quickly came to be regarded as a lost classic of Canadian music, being named one of the greatest Canadian albums of all time by the magazines Chart, Forced Exposure, Pop Matters and Alternative Press, as well as in Bob Mersereau's 2007 book The Top 100 Canadian Albums. DeMarchant left the band in 1975, and was replaced by Tony Cutaia, who in turn left in 1976 and was replaced by Don Cramer. Romany left the band in 1976, and was replaced by Steve Park of Teenage Head.
