Subject: Brian Eno - Kings Lead Hat - 1977 Tue Apr 09, 2024 1:59 am
Not going to flip coins over the favorite Eno song,it's this one, followed by Mother Whale Eyeless.I'm addicted to the guitar riff Robert Frip plays,it's cyclic,it loops back on itself,no harsh edges.
Many have said this song title is an anagram of Talking Heads and I believe it,Eno and Bowie always have hidden meanings and esoteric messages hidden in their lyrics.
My Cat Pudden and I would smoke pot and sit on the waterfront listening to Eno.
It was Brian Eno and David Bowie that made me aware of other bands in the late 70's and 80's.The Velvet Underground,Devo,Talking Heads,Television,The Pixies and others.
Eno is a massive influence in music, art and bizarre concepts to writing music.
Arnold Frollows of 2JJJ gave me the Before and After Science promo pack called 'Fourteen Pictures' with a rare studio photo of Eno in it.Placards of art, stories behind the album and lyrics.
It was in transit to my parents place for storage when the car broke down. Someone lit the car up.When the insurance investigators took me to the site,I found a burnt fragment of the outer package/cover.
I collect music memorabilia...loosing that was way worse than the f#cking car. I'm fuming right now remembering it...napalm the little bastard.
The single version,I prefer the orginal.
Dark alley (dark alley) black star Four turkeys in a big black car The road is shiny (bright shine) the wheels slide Four turkeys going for a dangerous ride The lacquer crackles (black tar) the engines roar A ship was turning broadside to the shore Splish splash I was raking in the cash The biology of purpose keeps my nose above the surface (OOH) King's lead hat put the innocence inside her, it will come, it will come, it will surely come King's lead hat was a mother to desire, it will come, it will come, it will surely come In New Delhi (smelly Delhi) and Hong Kong They all know that it won't be long I count my fingers (digit counter) as night falls And draw bananas on the bathroom walls The killer cycles (humdrum) the killer hertz The passage of my life is measured out in shirts Time and motion (motion carried) time and tide All I know and all I have is time and time and tide is on my side King's lead hat put the poker in the fire, it will come, it will come, it will surely come King's lead hat was a mother to desire, it will come, it will come, it will surely come The weapon's ready (ready Freddy) the guns purr The satellite distorts his voice to a slur He gives orders (finger pie) which no one hears The king's hat fits over their ears He takes his mannequin (tram line) cold turpentine He tries to dial out 999999999 He dials reception (moving finger) he's all alone He's just a victim of the telephone King's lead hat made the Amazon much wider, it will come, it will come, it will surely come King's lead hat put the poker in the fire, it will come, it will come, it will surely come King's lead hat was a mother to desire, it will come, it will come, it will surely come King's lead hat put the innocence inside her, it will come, it will come, it will surely come King's lead hat was a hammer to desire, it will come, it will come, it will surely come

This song is so perfect at times I have tears of happiness that this was ever invented. If I have a conventional burial, which I doubt, this would be the perfect song.
Eno said this is about impossible relationships.
I can think of nowhere I would rather be Reading morning papers, drinking morning tea: She clutches the tray And then we talk just like a kitchen sink play Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Living so close to danger, Even your friends are strangers Don't count upon their company. This is for the fingers, This is for the nails: Hidden in the kitchen, Right behind the scales. What do I care? I'm wasting fingers like I had them to spare, Plugging holes in the Zuider Zee. Punishing Paul for Peter, Don't ever trust those meters What you believe is what you see. In my town, there is a raincoat under a tree. In the sky, there is a cloud containing the sea. In the sea, there is a whale without any eyes. In the whale, there is a man without his raincoat. In another country, with another name Maybe things are different, maybe they're the same. Back on the trail, The seven soldiers read the papers and mail But the news, it does't change. Swinging about through creepers, Parachutes caught on steeples Heroes are born, but heroes die. Just a few days, a little practice and some holiday pay, We're all sure you'll make the grade. Mother of God, if you care, We're on a train to nowhere Please put a cross upon our eyes. Take me - I'm nearly ready, you can take me To the raincoat in the sky. Take me - my little pastry mother take me There's a pie shop in the sky.

My mother used to take interest in my music and art and she offered to do a hobby text thing for my music.
I used to design my own school jumpers, based on military influences, complete with epaulets on the shoulders.Year 11 and 12 was grey instead of green,so I got mum to do a grey v-neck jumper, black epaulets, black collar.Black shoes and slacks, what do you think it looked like.It was just missing the SS insignia on the collars.
Took them ages to figure it out.
Anyway,I took mums offer and she copied the cover of 'Another Green World' and laboriously painted four copied panels of the cover in enlarged form. And attached it to a home-made quilt/bed-spread cover.I didn't think of the future,it was based on a single bed,I only sleep in queens and kings now, sideways or pointing to a certain direction to enhance the influence of the dream state.
I still have that custom quilt cover, sitting in my HR Holden in storage. There's a good seamstress down here.Going to remove the panels and custom design a queen size bed cover.
Despite some awful family dysfunction,it's things like this I choose to remember. My brothers would say I just think of the good times. But they know so little compared to me,the history of the family and social changes in Australia back then. They were nowhere near my awareness levels.
Even the life essence of the country is completely different to then. My first proper girlfriend Jane would recognize this song, since we sort of did it frequently with this album playing. And I did it before I seen 'Dogs In Space',I beat you old boy.
[Verse] All the clouds turn to words All the words float in sequence No one knows what they mean Everyone just ignores them
[Sung Simultaneously With Above Verse] Mau Mau starter ching ching da da Daughter daughter dumpling data Pack and pick the ping pong starter Carter Carter go get Carter Perigeeeeeeeee Open stick and delphic doldrums Open click and quantum data

Lyrics Those who know They don't let it show They just give you one long glance And you go, oh oh, oh oh Goes to show How winds blow The weather's fine And I feel so so-so, so Birds of prey With too much to say Oh what could be my destiny Another rainy day Why ask why? For by the by and by All mysteries are just more Needles in the camel's eye Those who know They don't let it show They just give you one long lance And you go, oh oh, oh oh Why ask why? For by the by and by All mysteries are just more Needles in the camel's eye

Spider and I Sit watching the sky On our world without sound We knit a web To catch one tiny fly For our world without sound
We sleep in the mornings We dream of a ship that sails away A thousand miles away
We sleep in the mornings We dream of a ship that sails away A thousand miles away

But with Pudden it was always an adventure.I'd wag highschool, write my own absentee letters as my cursive writing was the same as my mothers, even signatures.Stay home while the parents worked and smoke pot with Pudden, down on the waterfront hidden in a windbreak we made.Together, after a smoke,we'd sit and watch the stunt planes do loop the loop and barrel rolls over the lakes,
I looked into Pudden's eyes as he watched the planes, his blissful happiness I could see.I felt the same.I borrowed my brothers "Boom-Box" and played Brian Eno's 'Spider And I',Julie With...,Backwater and others. One of the best days I ever had, just Pudden and I.
I loved him more than anything in this world.
Pudden hated punk rock, but didn't mind the quieter elements to Eno's rock albums. He would've loved Brian's ambient catalogue but only had 'Apollo Atmosphere's' and 'Ambient 4',which I played sparingly, with Jane.Pudden hated Jane and for good reason. She kicked him later on.Lucky I was at work.
She ran off with step-uncle later on.I told him to run for his life.He didn't,she destroyed him.End.
But in the calm moments of life,Pudden and I would enjoy each others company, smoking pot,on the waterfront of Buff Point.
The best and happiest days was with Pudden Cat,living life on that waterfront property.

Subject: Brian Eno (with Judy Nylon) - China My China (1974) Fri Apr 12, 2024 10:54 am
In the haze of the morning, China sits on eternity And the opium farmers sell dreams to obscure fraternities On the horizon the curtains are closing
Down in the orchard the aunties and uncles play their games (like it seems they always have done) In the blue distance the vertical offices bear their names (like it seems they always have done)
Clocks ticking slowly, dividing the day up These poor girls are such fun they know what God gave them their fingers for (to make percussion over solos)...
China my China, I've wandered around and you're still here (which I guess you should be proud of) Your walls have enclosed you, have kept you at home for thousands of years (but there's something I should tell you) All the young boys they are dressing like sailors
I remember a man who jumped out from a window over the bay (there was hardly a raised eyebrow) The coroner told me 'this kind of thing happens every day You see, from a pagoda, the world is so tidy

Rosalie I've been waiting all evening Possibly years I don't know Counting the passing hours Everything merges with the night
I stand on the beach Giving out descriptions Different for everyone I see Since I just can't remember Longer than last September
Santiago Under the volcano Floats like a cushion on the sea Yet I can never sleep here Everything ponders in the night
Rosalie We've been talking all summer Picking the straw from our clothes See how the breeze has softened Everything pauses in the night

Subject: Eno - Baby's On Fire Fri Apr 12, 2024 11:06 am
Love the start of this, sounds like a classic type of flying saucer taking off,1950's style.
Baby's on fire Better throw her in the water Look at her laughing Like a heifer to the slaughter Baby's on fire And all the laughing boys are bitching Waiting for photos Oh the plot is so bewitching Rescuers row row Do your best to change the subject Blow the wind blow blow Lend some assistance to the object Photographers snip snap Take your time she's only burning This kind of experience Is necessary for her learning If you'll be my flotsam I could be half the man I used to They said you were hot stuff And that's what baby's been reduced to Juanita and Juan Very clever with maracas Making their fortunes Selling secondhand tobacco's Juan dances at Chico's And when the clients are evicted He empties the ashtrays And pockets all that he's collected But baby's on fire And all the instruments agree that Her temperature's rising But any idiot would know that

[Verse 1] Burger cruising just above the ground, ground, ground And gunner puts a burnish on his steel
Anna with her feelers moving round, round, round Is sharpening her needles on the wheel
[Verse 2] Burger Bender bargain blender shine, shine, shine And gunner burn the leader on the fuse
Bundle up the numbers counting 3, 6, 9 Here's Anna building webs across our shoes
Celebrate the loss of one and all, all, all And separate the torso from the spine
Burger Bender bouncing like a ball, ball, ball
So Burger Bender bargain blender shine
[Verse 3] Do the do-si-do, do the mirror man Do the Boston Crab, and the allemande Do the do-si-do, do the mirror man Do the Boston Crab, and the allemande Do the do-si-do, do the mirror man Do the Boston Crab, and the allemande...

Subject: Eno - Back In Judy's Jungle Fri Apr 12, 2024 11:16 am
Lyrics These are your orders, seems like it's do it or die So please read them closely When you've learnt them be sure that you eat them up They're specially flavored with burgundy, Tizer and rye Twelve sheets of foolscap, don't ask me why. We hit the jungle just as it starts to monsoon Our maps showed no rainfall All the boys were depressed by this circumstance Trust in the weather to bless agricultural man Who gives birth to more farmhands, don't ask me why. Fifteen was chosen because he was dumb Seven because he was blind I got the job because I was so mean While somehow appearing so kind Drifting about through the cauliflower trees With a cauliflower ear for the birds The Squadron assembled what senses they had And this is the sound that they heard Back at headquarters khaki decisions are made File under 'Futile', that should give you its main point of reference It's all so confusing, what with pythons and then deadly flies But to them it's a picnic, don't ask me why. Thirteen was chosen because of his luck Eleven because of his feet One got signed up for exceptional pluck Another because he was mute Roaming about through the gelatin swamps With a gelatin eye on the stripes The Squadron assembled what senses they had And this is the sound that they heard Back in Blighty there was you There were milkmen every morning But/Fook these endless shiny trees Never used to be that way.

Subject: Brian Eno - Seven Deadly Finns Fri Apr 12, 2024 11:21 am
Lyrics Oh oh the french girls with the string of pearls Think it's such a fooking shame That the local boys with their country joys Never make them daisy chains They're swapping disappointing incidents While at the docks another ship pulls in And suddenly the door breaks down (ooh la la) It's the seven deadly finns Oh oh oh soldiers and sailors Have all been here before Gigolos and governments Have stumbled through that door Because they need all those french girls with all their kiss curls And powder in their guns And the seven finns with their deadly grins Tend to measure beauty in tuns. The first is a freak with a masochistic streak And the second is a kitten up a tree The third is a flirt with an awful print skirt And the fourth is pretending to be me The fifth wears a mac and never turns his back The sixth never shows his eyes But the seventh deadly finn is so tall and slim He should of never been with those guys. Although variety's the spice of life A steady rhythm is the source Simplicity's the crucial thing Systemically of course (work it all out like Norbert Wiener) So if those french girls say to you Would you like your ashes piped? You'll have to take their word for it It's the only thing to take

Oh cheeky cheeky Oh naughty sneaky You're so perceptive and I wonder how you knew. But these finks don't walk too well A bad sense of direction And so they stumble round in threes Such a strange collection. Oh you headless chicken Can those poor teeth take so much kicking? You're always so charming As you peck your way up there. And these finks don't dress too well No discrimination To be a zombie all the time Requires such dedication. Oh please, sir will you let it go by 'Cause I failed both tests with my legs both tied In my place the stuff is all there I've been ever so sad for a very long time My my they wanted the works can you this and that I never got a letter back More fool me bless my soul More fool me bless my soul. Oh perfect masters They thrive on disasters They all look so harmless Till they find there way up there. But dead finks don't talk too well They've got a shaky sense of diction It's not so much a living hell It's just a dying fiction.

Lyrics All the peasants in the squares At their tables and their chairs Set to salvage certain numbers From the wonder of the Tundra And the muses in the gloom Counting needles in their rooms On the carpet in the corner In a kind of secret slumber While the information rain Slashed the dirty window pane to the square Smoky broads and smoky windows in the square Come come charmer come on over for the day Disappearing cocoa forests flash and die Fortunes crumble all demolished in the bay Over forty pointed people In the perfect pointed steeple Looked to see the lucky number Yes the wonder of the Tundra Had come up to fame and fortune Singing his tune, my tune, your tune Wooing daughters of the gifted On the carpets of the courtrooms While the tickets were expensive The show was quite relentless in the square Dalai Llama lama puss puss Stella maris missa nobis Miss a dinner Miss Shapiro Shampoos pot-pot pinkies pampered Movement hampered like at Christmas Ha-ha isn't life a circus Round in circles like the Archers Always stiff or always starchy Yes it's happening and it's fattening And it's all that we can get into the show
