PostSubject: The Screamers - I'm a mensch    Fri Dec 20, 2013 9:16 pm

I'm A Mensch
(Daalder, Screamers)

Stop the beat!
Stop!

I am a mensch!
I am a mensch!

I only dance when I wanna dance,
to the sound of a distant drum.

I am a mensch.
I am a mensch.

I step out of line.
I step out of line.
You follow the beat,
I dance against it.

Cause I am a mensch.

??? face
I am a self-made man
I say anything can happen.
For a meatball of evil

I am a mensch.
I am a mensch.

Slurp me right down this
big hungry mouth
well it gulps & it yearns, & it yodels!

I will call you later lover
a smack you on the lips kisser
I'm a difficult customer
A meatball of evil

You follow the beat,
I dance against it.

Living a dreaming,
dying a screaming.

The mensch is me!

I am a mensch! (x4)

PostSubject: The Screamers - Matar Dolores    Sat Dec 21, 2013 3:49 am

Worth repeating....so I can find it easier, coolest song I've heard in years.

Captures the concept of this thread just nicely...cool songs.

Billy Ruben wrote:
For Synth Punk, usually I'd sway in favour for a New Yorkian flavor,Suicide springs to mind and the 1975 Demo Tapes, songs like A Man,Frankie Teardrop,Ghost Rider, but I really warmed to The Screamers, you can dance to them  Tomata du Plenty even though manic, with his electro-shock victims face, does'nt menace you like Alan Vega.

You're likely to come home electrified from a Screamers concert, with Suicide, you're likely to get mugged and knifed.

Mater Dolores

In the cathedral, going out of her head
In the cathedral, losing her mind
No one to charm her, no one to make her laugh
To hell with the faithful, she's breaking in half!

Chorus:
Glazed terra cotta Della Robbia Madonna
Mater Delores, Mother of sorrows.

She longs to be someone else,
not the chosen one,
No angels in the boudoir,
no voices from the clouds.
Why won't the Vatican leave her alone?

Litanies of millions ring in her ears.
They beseech her, "Intercede with your son."

No one seems to notice she's crazy in her head
Loco en cabeza, Loco en cabeza
(sound of early drum machines)

(chorus)

She's the kind of girl who deserves a second look,
are you for real, or just an apparition?

Those three kids in Fatima were really quite impressed,
Was it your entrance, or just the way you dressed?

(You should have seen her at {?}) Lourdes,
she was really quite exciting.
All those cripples in the pool make the water so inviting.

Guadeloupe, that's the place you really scored.
Not for a minute were those Mexicans bored.

Posing for those holy cards isn't all that fun.
When the faithful seem so ungrateful.

Is Lady Emotion rejecting my devotion?

(chorus)

O salutaris ain't got nothing on me,
Tantum ergo is no threat to my ego.

PostSubject: The Breeders - Glorious    Sat Dec 21, 2013 1:37 pm

Before I got into a wee bit of strife with drugs, when they were fun still, this is back in 1994,I'd have my CDs lined up for the next 24-40 hours,I'd start with a little Heroin, pure pink rock and maybe chase it with two beers afterwards,to get that clinic taste out of your mouth, you'd have your vomit,
and if smart,a nice stew, two hours previous the festivities of the hyperdermic.

By eighteen hours later, you're dead and need a little pick me up.Now this speed, was so pure, after he took it out of the fridge,it turned to water. You'd shoot,0.2 of a gramme, mixed with water, instant ether rush down the throat, your toes would crackle, your cock would shrink and couldn't get hard for say four hours....but when you do

boobies dogshag

..your hair stood on end, talk like a son of a gun.

The only time I welcomed door knocking Jehovah Witnesses, but sweating, grinding the teeth, holding an aching hard-on was too much for them.

Since they wouldn't come to the party, you'd kind of wank for a few hours waiting for your partner to get home from shift. And tease the neighbor who fought her husband for not giving her any...I got my karma.

But yeah, every Saturday morning...Psychonaut time, and go down and shake hands with old ladies and chat, tell them how good my speed blast was and debate her, that the needle was no different than a wine glass, spin people out,or kiss men in the streets, just to Fook with peoples heads.

I was punk. And it was fun, before I was leashed, domesticated and made an idiot.

PostSubject: The Breeders - Only in 3's    Sat Dec 21, 2013 1:55 pm

Actually,Pod and Mazzy Star were the ambience to mask my sexual activity in 1994.I kind of thought of female concepts to do with intimacy and developed that nature in sexuality,to Fook without a cock,be lesbian...at least for a few hours, then get your rocks off like a guy does, but at least you earnt it.

But first her...and you have to use energy and emotion and charge her, hands hovering over her hips from behind, zap, while you snake up behind her neck and ear...well,you get it...

Lyrics
Oh...
Oh...
Back burns are green and off for me and her
Back burns are green and off for me and her
Hes an ape, hes an ape, hes an angel
Hes an ape, hes an ape, hes an angel

Only in 3s, oh...
Only in 3s, oh...
Only in 3s, oh yeah
Only in 3s, oh yeah
Only in 3s, oh...
Only in 3s, oh...

Oh...
Oh...
Hay for a bed with her on my head
Hay for a bed with her on my head
And you are the king, the same king who will burn me
And you are the king, the same king who will burn me

Only in 3s, oh...
Only in 3s, oh...
Only in 3s, oh yeah
Only in 3s, oh yeah
Only in 3s, oh...
Only in 3s, oh...

PostSubject: The Breeders - Metal Man    Sat Dec 21, 2013 2:02 pm

Lyrics
I don't know how old I was
But it was a '65 pickup
I was lying on the ground
With flat iron bars over my head

One silver drop is all you need
To put a hole in your head at 2000 degrees
That's right man, you be the Metal Man
At 2000 degrees

That's hot *2

And over my head the hot wire was sparking
I got something down on my chest
And it began to bubble

I was her parent, my three in a tree
When a drip dropped down on me
That's right man, I'm the Metal Man
At 2000 degrees

That's hot

PostSubject: The Breeders - Iris   Sat Dec 21, 2013 2:15 pm

Lyrics
Four hours in the pot, one hour out
Four hours in the pot, one hour out
It grows and I sleep standing up
It grows and i sleep standing up
When Iris sleeps over
When iris sleeps over
What a book she'll write
What a book she'll write
Oh last night
Oh last night
Oh come on, nobody wants that
Oh come on, nobody wants that
Sister, sister, Oh...
Sister, sister, oh...
We tried hour by hour
We tried hour by hour
Hour by hour *2
Hour by hour

Hour by hour
Four hours to daylight, four hours and then

Pour water on me til I live again
Four hours to daylight, four hours and then
When Iris sleeps over
Pour water on me til i live again
It'll be alright
When iris sleeps over
All last night
It'll be alright
But come on, nobody wants that
All last night
Sister, sister, oh...
But come on, nobody wants that
We tried hour by hour
Sister, sister, oh...
Hour by hour *2
We tried hour by hour

PostSubject: Metal Box In Dub - Understand Dub. Jah Wobble & Keith Levene    Fri May 09, 2014 12:48 am

Imagine if they could've controlled their temperments, egoes, and drug use.Public Image, with Metal Boxes line-up,holding it together putting 20 years out worth of music in this vein.

Certainly haven't lost it.But I only appreciated elements of Public Image Limited, without Levene Wobble combination say from Flowers Of Romance.

The LP/CD/Cassette Album release was way over produced, awful looking back, but gave Lydon some catchy tunes,Rise and FFF good examples. But loved it as a 16 year old, when it came out.

But this is great form from Metal box In Dub.The Orirginal Second Issue/Metal Box released in 1979 as Public Image Limited second issue has been in my top ten albums since 14 years old
and still to this day

PostSubject: Blondie 1975 Lullaby CBGBs    Sat May 10, 2014 5:59 am

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blondie_(band)

Wikipedia wrote:
The band's first commercial success occurred in Australia in 1977, when the music television program Countdown mistakenly played their video "In the Flesh", which was the B-side of their then current single "X-Offender".[10] Jimmy Destri later credited the show's Molly Meldrum for their initial success, commenting that "we still thank him to this day" for playing the wrong song.[21] In a 1998 interview, drummer Clem Burke recalled seeing the episode in which the wrong song was played, but he and Chris Stein suggested that it may have been a deliberate subterfuge on the part of Meldrum. Stein asserted that "X-Offender" was "too crazy and aggressive [to become a hit]", while "In the Flesh" was "not representative of any punk sensibility. Over the years, I've thought they probably played both things but liked one better. That's all." In retrospect, Burke described "In the Flesh" as "a forerunner to the power ballad".[22]

The single reached number 2 in Australia, while the album reached the Australian top twenty in October 1977, and a subsequent double-A release of "X-Offender" and "Rip Her to Shreds" was also popular. A successful Australian tour followed in December, though it was marred by an incident in Brisbane when disappointed fans almost rioted after Harry cancelled a performance due to illness

Find it hilarious that they played the wrong song, but it doesn't ring true.Australian censors at that time, would've been very stringent on sexual content, where In The Flesh, despite the title, was a more palatable
love ballad.

Not to mention, alot of Australians, went wild about Debbie, yes,
particularly the men,she was even my favourite love,a desire, not that whimsical existential moodly love affair, set upon a black and white noir background, that I have for Kate Bush,Debbie is all fun and rock and roll. But Aussies only know of the Radio favourites.

I love the bands rough cut beginnings, like the best of New Yorks punk, they did a stint in CBGBs,but thanks to Patti Smiths elitism, got them booted out,to greater commercial success, than Patti ever did,but alas a bigger budget to near destroy themselves on drugs.

But I love the girl anyway, forever jealous of Chris Stein. And Debbie was way nicer than Patti Smith.I don't care if she did Horses with John Cale and a brilliant live album with Cale in 1976,The Ocean Club New York.I just don't like others pushing their authority, manipulating others against the under-dogs,making the atmosphere more intolerant and hard to grow artistically as a group.

And yeah,I'd rather slam Debbie against the wall of the CBGBs toilets than talk politics with Patti...actually,I'd go down on her, despite the state of the floor. She's worth it.  boobies

Published on May 9, 2014

Rare and raw footage of Blondie, the original line-up.This night is significant, when Debbie forgot the lyrics in a "Girl Should know better" and Patti Smith declared them a junk band, not fit for the cultural flow of CBGBs and affectively got them booted across town.It was more to do with Debbies sexual antics that Patti grew tired of.I liked Debbie as a person better than Miss Smith, but it seems only one woman could wear a black tie.I'd rather see Debbie dressed as a school girl showing off her waist, than some decrepid house spider with a black tie, screeching "Rock'n'Roll nigger".No matter who was more artistic viable. That's payback Patti.

PostSubject: John Cale Patti Smith -Waiting For The Man live at Ocean Club '76 NY    Sat May 10, 2014 6:25 am

Speaking of that song done by John Cale and Patti Smith, live 1976 at the Ocean Club new York.It was quite a line-up that night with David Byrne, Lou Reed, Chris Spedding, Allen Lanier & Mick Ronson.

But for all my ill feeling toward Patti,I love her here, over dramatizing, improvising absolutely copulating with the song.Cale at his murderous madness welsh looney best from 4:36 on...I worship him, spit flying from his mouth, slapping the ivory in feverish thrusts, trying to strangle the piano.A God.

PostSubject: Tom Verlaine • Breakin' In My Heart    Sat May 17, 2014 4:02 am

TOM VERLAINE
Breakin' In My Heart
(Verlaine)

Thunder ...
Thunder and lightning
One drop of rain on the back of my hand
How I ... ooh I
How I love to wander
Someone came in the middle of the night
Threw me in a room without walls.
Yes, I love to wander
A cold wind slapped my face
And another time to shut down
Well, my arms they felt so weak and strong
Under your window, well it shone like a light
Tonight the air has teeth
I wish I had another way to breathe
And all you, you ever say
All you ever say
All you ever say, is ..
Stop Breakin' in my heart.
And so it came to pass
That is, once upon a time
I saw the color that sent the geese south
I saw the color, your golden mouth
I saw the color that whistles far away
I saw the color; I walked away
Deep in your dark eyes
Deep where the daylight searches
I keep waitin' and waitin'
About a moment of gold
Breakin' in my

and now the original Television version, never recorded in the studio, like so many of their best tracks, only in live or demo form.

I always loved the New York ways of doing things.

You got trouble on yr mind
You got it double, thats why you shine
You got trouble all the time
You got it double thats why you shine
Don't call it hell, call it soul, don't call it hell, no
YEAH, yeah, yr mouth
Underline morality

PostSubject: Television – Little Johnny Jewel    Sun Jun 15, 2014 7:08 pm

I got to apologise. This song should actually open the thread.

Cool Songs....and you don't get cooler than Television.

Little Johnny Jewel, song's been going through my head constantly for three weeks, has'nt driven me mad, like others do,might actually enjoy the neurosis for once, the radio dial of the mind usually sticks on shit, you can't stand from the radio, telvision or rail station loud speaker.

Three weeks ago,I bought the best pot this year, got stoned and dug for different versions of this song, but love the original ORK single best.

I remember Richard Hell saying they write little psychotic tunes that mirror a psychotic world. That little lead from 1:03 to 1:34,nothing quite compares to that edgey cool....so much, made a little excerpt of the song from 0.00 to 1:34 playing on a loop, still not grown tired of it.Possible top ten song of all time.

Now part of my romance playlist....

(Verlaine)
Now Little Johnny Jewel,
Oh, he's so cool,
He has no decision,
He's just trying to tell a vision.
Some thought that this was sad,
And others thought it mad,
They just scratching the surface,
JJ can do the floor kiss.
Was he on display?
No, no, not today.
All that guy ever said,
He said, "I want my little wing-head".
He half-asleep at night
Over his head, sensation of flight.
And he wake up dreaming,
Dreaming...
And he run down to the airport,
The rush, the roar,
And he crouched down behind a fence,
With a chest full of lights,
Then,
He loses his senses...
Oh Little Johnny Jewel,
He's so cool,
But if you see him looking lost
You ain't gotta come on so boss!
And you know that he's paid,
You know that he's paid the price,
All you gotta do for that guy
Is wink your eye.

Here's Televisions "R&R Animal" version of Johnny Jewel.Knock your socks off...
