PostSubject: Actress (New York Dolls) - I'm a Boy I'm a Girl    Thu May 09, 2013 3:54 am

November 2005.
Finishing up painting mums house,a new kitchen installed,I see in the food pantry, six months supply of morphine and endones.I check the dates and it means one thing, they're hording them for that big trip in the sky,but this was overkill. The way they'd been talking, was like they wanted to go together.Esoteric freak-out meltdown, should we endure our pain or meet the spiritworld through a narcotic double suicide ?,I quickly relieved them of their burdens and stole the opiate based medications.

Three months later, the teeth had turned brown, the skin a pale sallow motley affair, sweating profusely, puking into the bucket, trying to not overspill, the pains and nervous twitch of muscles, binding and releasing, the last efforts of the dragon, drizzled and fizzled out as it run with the torrents of sweat, cascading down my back.

I beat another drug infused demon, the same dragon for the third time. This is the album that helped me through it.

PostSubject: New York Dolls Looking For A Kiss--Demo    Fri May 10, 2013 9:51 am

The coolest recordings are these little Mercer St Sessions in the New York Dolls banner.Kind of layed back like Bolan was, that sexy cool with Get It On,with a 71 New York Art Punk Junkie twist and sneer.Quite a few unknown gems in these sessions,Frankenstein,Pills,Looking For A Kiss, all providing stripped down versions of the later to come, rather flambouyant in comparison, studio versions of the same songs.I spose back in 2005,discovering all these demos and studio out-takes of much loved versions of many bands, prejudice sways in favour of demos and live studio to known and much played commercially produced material.

PostSubject: Television '74 - I'm Gonna Find You, rare (unreleased) song +lyrics    Fri May 10, 2013 9:58 am

I'M GONNA FIND YOU (lyrics transcription)
Sometime I see you
with your shiny, dirty, black hair
and your clothes, your clothes, they just don't make no more
Well, it was, it was, hard to look at you
But it was quite clear
But how do I explain it
I say...? (can't make out)
But you know it's kinda like Romeo and Juliet
Well, you went away off somewhere
You went away somewhere
But, I'm a gonna tell ya
But, I'm a gonna tell ya
But, I'm a gonna tell you
I saved so much up to make this trip
You just turn out and give me the slip
I'm gonna check out of your little bathhouse
check....? (can't make out)
I've believe I gotta go to Paris (I think he starts naming different places in this section, but the guitars kinda drown out what he's saying)
Baby...go to downtown..?
...............to the poor house
??????
I gotta go down to the future
I gotta check outta the past
I gotta break through to a new dimension
I gotta.....?
I gotta.....?
I gotta go to Mississippi and New Orleans (sounds like, not sure)
I'm a gonna find you
I'm a gonna find you
Say, I'm a gonna find you
Some sweet day

From a 1974 rehearsal when Richard Hell was in the band.

Check out this other equally fine, early, rare Television recording, also from '74, "Horizontal Ascension":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tMSNm...
Some (e.g. me) think "Horizontal Ascension" surpasses "I'm Gonna Find You."

There are worthwhile early Television songs recorded that Richard Hell co-wrote & sings. It's too bad every time I try uploading any of them, they get spiked by a copyright infringement claim by "Richard Meyers" (Hell's real name). Bloody Hell!
A bootleg called "Poor Circulation" contains many of these early, unreleased Television songs, including "I'm Gonna Find You." It's available as a direct download in FLAC format here:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/TLfBIhTu/P...
Another worthwhile early Television boot is a Cleveland show from 1975-07-25 in FLAC
downloadable here:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/miSmF9GO/T...
I've uploaded to YT the song "Breakin' In My Heart" from the show.

Jan. 2012 Update: For those interested in old/rare Television/Tom V. articles, here's a link to a file I uploaded of scans of approx. 60 articles/interviews (most contain interview content):
http://www.4shared.com/zip/p6aGwLm6/T...
I collected them between 1978 & 1990, & the articles date from '74 to '90. The Wonder fan site has an excellent articles collection (mostly text files), but many of my articles aren't yet available there. I finally got around to digitizing mine & making them available to other fans to download. Also, here's a link to a file of scans of my copy of book "The Night", a poetry book(let) by Tom Verlaine & Patti Smith, published 1976:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/eM4vfO6L/T...

A photographer, "Nicky L." ( Nicky Lazzoni) , who took some of the vintage 1970s photos used in this slideshow (they're all found in the frame that's a collage of many photos assembled together of CBGB, & CBGB bands) identified himself in comments. I think he'd like me to pass along a link to his website:
http://lowerthirdenterprise.com/
where you can view all his fine photos which he sells collectible limited editions of through his site.

Thanks again to the You Tuber Television fan who kindly transcribed these lyrics & supplied results to me. I pass them along here:

PostSubject: The Neon Boys - Love Comes In Spurts    Fri May 10, 2013 10:23 am

The original and best, was the Neon Boys, later,Richard Hell kept his title,re-worded the lyrics and song structure entirely, but this was a song born of passion, not teenage frustration, far better subject matter, far better sound, shame they only offered a four song ep,because it's the best delivery Hell and Verlaine as a partnership ever delivered, here,or as Television or solo adventures,.Here, they got it right, they gelled. Here, just this one song, for a moment, excelled The Velvet Underground.

http://www.richardhell.com/lyrics1.html

Love Comes in Spurts (1st version--No relation but title to later better-known version.)
(music T. Verlaine, Shake Records: Hell Past & Present e.p. vinyl, 1980, o.p.)
[appears on (British) Overground over19cd: Neon Boys e.p. cd, 1991]

I stood and stared at her face and nothin seemed to come
And then she smiled and that look just licked me like a tongue

Because love comes in spurts for sure
Though sometimes it hurts far more
You just get love in spurts

I held her waist and her wrist and I kissed her in the hair
Forgotten love started pumpin like a fountain inside there

Because love comes in spurts for sure
Though sometimes it hurts far more
You just get love in spurts

Oh darlin love'll come pump in your soul two feet deep
Two minutes later alligators'll chew you in your sleep

Because love comes in spurts for sure
Though sometimes it hurts far more
You just get love in spurts

Oh my honey wipe the tears that streak down your cheek
And don't you think I don't care, you only do cuz you feel weak

Because love comes in spurts for sure
Though sometimes it hurts far more
You just get love in spurts, in spurts, in spurts, in spurts...

PostSubject: The Neon Boys - High Heeled Wheels    Fri May 10, 2013 10:32 am

High Heeled Wheels
(music T. Verlaine, Shake Records: Hell Past & Present e.p. vinyl, 1980, o.p.)
[appears on (British) Overground over19cd: Neon Boys e.p. cd, 1991]

High on your heels, your heels are wheels
Metal will rattle
Buttery leather a whole lot better

Yes your slipper made Jack the Ripper
Melt in his belt
High heel shoes they kick the blues

Your boots so pink that I can't think
Your heels so high oh my we'll fly
We'll move so fast won't nothin catch
Our high heel wheels, our high heel wheels
We'll steer by the stars in our high heeled cars

Got your roots inside your boots
zipper goes ripper
foot to the floor we're out the door

Your boots so pink that I can't think
Your heels so high oh my we'll fly
We'll move so fast won't nothin catch
Our high heel wheels, our high heel wheels
We'll steer by the stars in our high heeled cars

See you comin, my heart starts drummin
heat to the feet
fuel starts pumpin and we start jumpin

Your boots so pink that I can't think
Your heels so high oh my we'll fly
We'll move so fast won't nothin catch
our high heel wheels, our high heel wheels
We'll steer by the stars in our high heeled cars

The Neon Boys was an early 1970s New York City band, composed of Tom Verlaine, Richard Hell, and Billy Ficca. The trio later went on to form the American rock band Television in 1973. Richard Hell also went on to be in the important early NY punk band Richard Hell and the Voidoids.
Some of the Neon Boys' recordings were released on a 1980 EP, backed with two songs by Richard Hell and the Voidoids.

PostSubject: Television - Double Exposure    Fri May 10, 2013 10:47 am

Two producer/performers were responsible for shaping New Yorks early punk scene. That was John Cale and Brian Eno,they both have in common (Eno sponsored them in interviews, devotee and once rumoured in 74 to take lead vocals in a reformed Velvets) The Velvet Underground. All scenes were influenced by the Velvets, that is the Cleveland,Detroit and Boston musical underground with a crowd that mainly comprised of art students, college drop-outs,artist,groupie types, transvestites and sexual kinkies and a few drug dealers.

Many of the characters of these influential scenes ended up in the lyrics of songs.Holly, little Joe,etc. Here Eno flavoured early Television,Double Exposure.

PS...I reckon that Eno rumour to lead the Velvets was to motivate Reed to reform them...didn't work and the rest is history...but still, would've been nice and the Velvets were ready to be received properly by 1974...Not 1967.

'Double Exposure' Television live at CBGBs 1974

Lyrics to You're Full Of Shit :

From the goddamn first thing I do in the morning, 'til the goddamn last thing I do at night,

Oh wouldn't it be so terribly nice

Don't you ever want to get it right

All my goddamn ex-friends, they oh so politely criticize me and advise me,

They don't know what they're talking about, they don't mean a thing,

A bunch of stupid assholes hanging onto strings, and you're full of shit, and you know it's true

When I'm riding in my car, to some hotel, to some crummy bar,

Please preacher, cure her and send her back home,

Wherever you go, whatever you do,

Goodness gracious

Shape to shape, form to form

In a circular motion, full erosion

You're so full of shit, and you know it's true, 'cause we all heard you, talking on the telephone, full of shit, full of shit

Molotov cocktails, death and dada,

Don't you ever want to get it right?

Sally and Judy were standing next to me, and they said that you said that Heidi was a real drag,

Leave on a plane, driving Novocaine

See you next summer, have another bummer,

You're full of shit and your ugly of face,

And you're full of shit, and you know it's true,

The same thing amigo applies to you

Driving in my car, oh baby,

See you round summertime,

Driving in the air,

I just think that it isn't quite fair to me,

And shape to shape, form to form

Funny little motion, full erosion

You're so full of shit, you know it's true

Same thing applies to me, applies to you,

You're full of shit, full of shit, full of shit, you're full of shit, full of shit

PostSubject: The Electric Eels - You're Full Of Shit   Thu Jun 13, 2013 10:42 am

I'm slowly figuring it out and I still hate it,except I found this tech-crap at Forum Motion which explained it,which is good,I was going to report someone fucking with my edit controls

...cause I don't like him and he's full of shit and you know it's true. This Droike, who runs Droike Free-Forums,smart-arse game player like Sod,all he had to say was switch your editor,I used to complain how hard his forum is to use,it's the switch editor button you have to push every post so I'll go and look in forum configurations and go from there.Bastards they are,Sod wouldn't even tell me how to post a youttube video,I figured every forum out for myself, now this'll make Webanarchy easier to use as well.
Fuck you and your sacred computer knowledge, hate ya's.I got paranoid of crackers and banned this Texan Ip hoping I got Griduser or this caped fuckwit I hate,so sucked in,if it was a real person, complain to Ciggy and I'll lift it.

Oh and sorry if you're innocent.

Now,let's redo what I had in mind,The Electric Eels,You're Full Of Shit

PostSubject: The Electric Eels - Cyclotron   Thu Jun 13, 2013 11:41 am

The Electric Eels were just prankster terrorist.Mad as hatters.Examine the lyric line,"War is fun,go down to the turnpike and laugh at the Jets".Imagine, going to the local football stadium just to laugh at the losing home team, suicide, yes, but hilarious. All these 1974 college straights of Cleveland, oblivious to the punk sub-culture that was arising at the time in the Cleveland scene,Rocket From The Tombs,Mirrors,The Styrenes...

and you have this mad afro, sneering white trash that is Dave McManus, upsetting your sensibilities, playing opening songs in gay-bars"You Crummy Fags,I'll blow your head off for a dollar,I'll rip your heart out just for fun".McManus hated Laughner of the Tombs and had a blow-up dolly called "Charlotte",named after Laughners wife
...he'd deny it now,but I suspect McManus screwed Laughners wife
and made fun out of the experience equating the performance with a blow-up doll, being more animated. He won't admit that if true, out of respect for Laughner dying at 27,Pancreatic cancer, drugs do that,
shame for early Pere Ubu,cause the guitar on Final Solution "Unchained" is unrivalled.Aint it Fun,the original Tombs release from Day The Earth was always to poignant to play after a week.Oh,Dave,if you ever read this,I'm just pissing you off back in pure Eels style, talking about Laughners SKILLS in the same paragraph as you.the subject matter.Razz

The Eels were never violent homophobes or Nazi sympathizers, they were in fact, laughing at both sides of the argument, poking fun at the left right paradigm, whether that concerns politics, gender debates, social sensibilities
or whatever agenda, they were true in your face punks, insane, but a lot of fun.Art Terrorist I think they referred themselves to be and quite rightly so.

Lyrics to Cyclotron :

Giant doors

Hiding in a dresser and pursuing my success,

Hide with the roar

Shaving with two razors will help make quite a mess,

T.V. set

Watch yourself on video, see me on the big beat show

Daffy Duck

You know a steaming bowl of washers

On a nice hot day like this would be a nice suprise

Sewing set

Little baby tie up and I'm through for one day,

War is fun

Going down the turnpike and I laugh at the jets,

Benny boy

Falling on a liquorice, dancing on a cyclotron

Your mouth is a vast wasteland

You're a little baby bore

Candygram

Standing on a corner with a flashlight in her hand,

I hate girls

Climb into the canister and warn me in the morning,

Pasty faces

Amyl nitrate on your brow

Barbie Doll

Kelvinator, Kelvinator, Kelvinator,

Your mouth is a vast wasteland

Baby burp gets on your dress
